A classic Southern-style side dish with tender green beans, smoky bacon, and the perfect balance of sweet and tangy flavor.
Ingredients
- 4 cans cut green beans, drained
- 8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1/2 onion, chopped
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove, crumble, and set aside, leaving a little bacon drippings in the skillet.
- Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened.
- Stir in the green beans, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer over low heat, uncovered, stirring often, until the liquid has cooked away.
- Add the crumbled bacon back in, stir, and serve warm.
