These rich, fudgy brownies are soft, chocolatey, and topped with a simple homemade frosting--just like the classic school cafeteria favorite!
Ingredients
BROWNIE
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
FROSTING
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
BROWNIE
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease or line a 9x9-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the melted butter and sugar.
- Add in eggs and vanilla until combined.
- Mix in the cocoa powder and flour. Do not overmix.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the center is just set. Do not overbake for the fudgiest brownies.
- Let the brownies cool slightly while you prepare the frosting.
FROSTING
- In a medium bowl, beat together the softened butter, milk, cocoa powder, and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
- Spread the frosting over the slightly warm brownies.
- Allow the frosting to set before slicing into squares and serving.
